In order to make optimal use of resources (e.g. energy, water), it is necessary to measure consumption. Existing meters can be connected to monitoring systems easily and cost-effectively using radio-based and battery-powered devices with suitable interfaces.

Recording existing meters

Integrating meters into a network requires the use of existing interfaces: whether S0 or Modbus – for comprehensive energy optimisation, none of the interfaces mentioned can be ignored.

New meters = new measuring points: installation costs?!

Additional meters are often desirable. Whether on a machine, in a building or in a production area: installation costs can now be massively reduced through radio connection. Battery-powered meter recording also helps here.

Recording of additional consumers via current transformers/Rogowski coils

A smart way to measure the energy requirements of machines is to use current transformers and Rogowski coils. These can be connected not only via Modbus, but also via LPN technologies such as LoRaWAN®. Energy harvesting even eliminates the need for a battery in the evaluation electronics.
