Leakage monitoring is a particularly important issue for economic efficiency in district heating networks. Digitalisation makes it possible to tap into this potential. New communication networks such as LoRaWAN® enable IoT sensors to quickly and easily transmit measurement data from your assets and systems for further processing. This allows you to collect this valuable measurement data throughout the entire life cycle and use device management and data processing to prepare useful information.
But how can this data be meaningfully evaluated and visualised?
Girsberger Informatik AG offers SILOVEDA®, a tool for managing, calculating, evaluating, reporting and long-term archiving of measured values from electricity, gas, heat or water meters as well as from any sensors, including comtac sensors such as the LPN CM-4.
How does monitoring work in practice?
Underground pipe systems can develop leaks over time due to wear, manufacturing defects or corrosion. Continuous monitoring of temperature and humidity in the shaft allows these to be detected at an early stage, minimising costs in the event of damage.
Leak detection is carried out using an algorithm derived from humidity, temperature and precipitation. If the dynamic limit value is exceeded, a message is sent to the system administrator via email. A link to the evaluation graph gives the employee an immediate initial assessment. In addition, the condition of the sensors is actively monitored and their remaining service life and availability are displayed. The entire measurement process – from data communication to evaluation – is shown in the following diagram:
With the SILOVEDA® IoT module from Girsberger Informatik AG, the sensors can be easily managed as devices. The payloads of the sensors can be decoded through parameterisation. The payload resolver then processes the user data in accordance with DIF/VIF. Data processing and evaluation takes place in the standard SILOVEDA® measurement and energy data management system.
Into the future with dynamism and flexibility
The modular SILOVEDA® measurement and energy data management system can be easily expanded at any time to meet your future needs. The SILOVEDA® IoT module is a productive example of device and data management. The standard SILOVEDA® system is an innovative tool for device management and time series processing that can process measurement series from a wide range of industries, such as electricity, gas, heat, water and emissions, into useful company key figures and reports.
