Industrial 5G refers to the application of the 5G wireless standard in industrial environments. 5G is the fifth generation of wireless communication technology and offers significant improvements in speed, capacity and latency compared to previous generations such as 4G or 3G.

So-called low power wide area networks (LPWA networks) such as NB-IoT and CAT-M are also part of the 5G standard. This allows IoT devices to be integrated into the 5G network, which are battery-powered and have smaller amounts of data to transmit.
